During the filming process of our thriller opening we used the Canon c100 mk1 DAF with the EF 24-105 1:4 LUSM lens. This camera was very professional and gave us the clear picture we wanted for our opening. We each took turns filming so that we were all involved in each process, the camera at some points also needed to be held by two people because of how large it was so for the more difficult or important scenes to make it more steady. To help with the stability of the shots we used a tripod for some of the scenes where the camera needed to be in the same position for a long time, for example the scenes with the computer messages. We decided to use this camera instead of the school cameras because it had much more special features of which we could use to make the shots look better and more professional, whereas the school cameras are very limited with the effects.
During filming, as we used a professional camera, we found that it had a focus feature which allowed us to chose what person or object we wanted the shot to be focused on, this was especially helpful when we were filming in dark lighting such as when Isobel was under the bed, we could make sure that she was clear in the shot. This also helped us film the shot with the intruder walking through the kitchen because we focused the camera in Rhiannon instead of the object on the table. This allowed us to clearly show to the audience that the key part of the scene was the intruder not the table.
Whilst we were filming we needed to have our actors talking as we didn't want to have to input the audio after filming because it may not look as natural as it would if we filmed whiles our actors spoke. This was a concern of ours that the camera might not pick up the sound but once we got the camera we realised that it actually had an external microphone on it which meant it would be able to pick up the quiet or far away sounds that we initially were concerned about not hearing, such as when we were filming Isobel upstairs when she hears the intruder at the door, but as there was a large distance between Rhiannon downstairs and Isobel upstairs we weren't sure if the camera would pick up the souns but because of the external microphone this was not an issue.
