actors

Kenadi

The first choice for our main character was Kenadi, we chose her because she is very confident and friendly person which meant that she would be easy to work with and we could finish creating the thriller fairly quickly. At the time of doing the test shots we decided that Kendadi would be better at playing the role of the victim because she doesn't have the fearful or big presence that the capturer needs. When we asked her to take some pictures we asked her to do a natural straight forward pose to begin with and then one if her own, these show that she has a lot of confidence in front of the camera and during the process she didn't have any challenges being herself with the camera in her. However after thinking about filming we realised that Kenadi's height might play an important factor because she is of average female height but she needs to be able to fit under a bed comfortably which may be a struggle for her. Due to her height we decided not to choose Kenadi as our victim or villain because it may not look as effective as it would if she was smaller and more vulnerable.

Rhiannon

The second person we considered being one of our actors was Rhiannon, we chose her in mind of having her play the villain this is because she is very tall and has a very masculine stature. This was good for our villain because we wanted to conform to the conventions of a thriller which are typically a large make figure as the villain, which meant that we would have Rhiannon as a female appearing to be a make but the audience is unaware in the opening which gives the storyline another layer. We decided that she wouldn't be suitable for the role of the victim because she is very tall and again the accessibility for her being under the bed hiding wouldn't be suitable or comfortable for her during the filming. Whilst taking the test shots we found that Rhiannon was very comfortable and confident in front of the camera and showed us a variation if poses by choice without us asking her to, this showed us that she would be very easy to work with in front of the camera and behind the scenes this is why we decided to chose her to play the villain character.

Isobel

The other actor we chose was someone already in our media group, Isobel, we decided to get Isobel to do the test shots because she has the right image for the character we wanted to create in our thriller. In front of the camera she was slightly shy, but once we told her exactly what we wanted her to do her confidence grew and she felt very comfortable by the end of taking pictures of her. As mentioned before we wanted our victim to be a small female, which is why we chose her to be the victim as oppose to the villain. As she is small this means she would be very helpful when we want to do the scenes under the bed and more comfortable for out actor. However we were concerned with choosing Isobel because as she is already party of our group we weren't sure if, if she was acting in the video, would she be able to help with the directing and filming. But after having this conversation with her we found that we will be filming scenes without her in of which she could help with so that we all work as a group. Another reason why we came to the final decision of choosing Isobel was that she has previously studied drama so she knows how to act within the thriller, this means that our thriller would look a lot more professional if Isobel puts the skills she learnt in drama, into the thriller opening.
